Born in Granite City, Illinois, Dr. Korwek spent the better part of his adolescent life in Long Island, New York. Attending the State University at Stony Brook, he graduated with a double major earning a BS in Biology and a BA in Anthropology with honors. Subsequently, Dr. Korwek achieved his Doctorate in Dental Surgery at the State University of Buffalo graduating in 1984. A one-year postgraduate program at Buffalo General Hospital followed. Settling in Watertown, he has practiced private dentistry for over 25 years, delivering complete restorative, cosmetic, and pediatric dental care to his patients.
Membership in the American Dental Association began in 1980 and has continued ever since. Due to his commitment to continuing dental education, Dr. Korwek is also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and regularly attends many dental enhancement courses.
Personally, Dr. Korwek met and married Julie Taylor-Nims in 1995 and has two children. His son, Kenneth Nims, graduated from the prestigious Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University in 2009. He was fortunate to have played men’s lacrosse at Syracuse for four years, earning two NCAA Division I National Championships and being a finalist for the Tewarraton Trophy. His daughter, Taylor Nims, now attends Syracuse University, also a student at the Whitman School of Management, and she plays for the Syracuse Woman’s Lacrosse Team. Dr. Korwek played club ice hockey while attending both Suny Stony Brook and Suny Buffalo School of Dentistry. He enjoys hunting, golfing, and especially boating on the beautiful St. Lawrence River.
