Kevin W. Deeney, DDS, Board-Eligible Orthodontist, In Memoriam

Born on October 2, 1959, in Warsaw, NY, Kevin was a son of the late Dr. Raymond Deeney, a long-time dentist in Perry, NY. Kevin was a 1977 graduate of Perry High School in Wyoming County and a 1982 graduate of Canisius College, Buffalo. He earned his degree in dental surgery at S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 1987, completed his residency in pediatric dentistry at Children's Hospital, Buffalo, in 1989, and graduated from the post-graduate program in orthodontics at Eastman Dental Center, Rochester, in 1991.

Armed with his degrees, Dr. Kevin Deeney decided to head north and hang his shingle in northern New York. He was in private practice in Watertown and Gouverneur since 1991 and participated in the Central New York Cleft and Craniofacial Center, Syracuse, since 1994. He was a member of the American Association of Orthodontics and the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association.

Kevin loved northern New York. He had a great passion for the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, skiing, boating, sailing, and biking. He had a great love of Lake Ontario, especially Henderson Harbor.

He is survived by his wife, Michele, and his four cherished children, Schuyler, Carter, Bridgette, and Jackson of Watertown; sisters Patricia Braunlich (Helmut) of Eugene, OR, and Kathleen Paget (Michael) of Columbia, SC; niece Bethanie Murguia (Adam) of Sausalito, CA; nephews Marshall A. Deeney (Stephanie) of West Henrietta, NY, Patrick Deeney of New York City, Christopher Paget of Columbia, SC, Kurt Braunlich of Ft. Collins, CO, and Martin Braunlich of Eugene, OR; sister-in-law Marie-Elena Deeney of Castile, NY; and two great-nieces.

He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Marshall R. Deeney; his father, Dr. Raymond W. Deeney; and his mother, Audrey Marr Deeney.

Dr. Kevin Deeney was a wonderful friend and orthodontist to many. He lived his life with great joy and cherished his family and friends. He loved to make people smile, and that is the gift he leaves to us. We were all made better people for having known him. He will be profoundly missed.
