Patient Information

Your First Visit

We reserve about an hour to get to know our new patients. Your dentist will want to meet with you and discuss your goals and concerns. Your comprehensive exam may include digital X-rays, a tooth-by-tooth inspection, periodontal charting, an oral cancer screening, and a jaw-joint evaluation. Our interactive patient education system allows patients to view details of their diagnosis on flat-screen, chairside monitors. We’ll make recommendations for treatment, explain you options in detail, and then schedule any necessary follow-up visits. Of course, we will tailor this visit to your needs. We welcome children, complex cases, and fearful patients who may require special attention.

New Patient Forms

We have made our new patient forms available to you as Adobe Acrobat files. For your convenience, we recommend printing and completing these forms at home.

Please remember to bring your completed forms with you for your first appointment. If you have any problem getting these files to print properly, please call our Watertown and Carthage dental offices and we will gladly send or fax them to you.

Common Questions

Why is gum disease so serious?

Gum disease is a chronic infection of the tissues that support the teeth. There is no cure for gum disease, although it can be controlled with regular professional care. In advanced stages, the bacteria that infects the gums can eat away gum tissue and lead to tooth and bone loss. Bacteria can also enter the bloodstream through the gums and put you at risk for more serious health conditions. Recent studies have linked gum disease to diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, and pregnancy complications. At our office, we take gum disease seriously and offer therapies to help prevent gum disease from wreaking havoc on your smile.

How can you straighten my teeth without metal braces?

Many adults living with crooked teeth are unaware of the latest advancements in cosmetic dentistry. Our doctors can straighten your teeth with non-invasive therapies, including cosmetic bonding and porcelain veneers. These long-lasting options also cover stains, repair chips, and enhance the overall appearance of a smile. Watertown and Carthage Dental Health Group dentists are also certified Invisalign providers, so we can straighten your teeth with this revolutionary, metal-free orthodontic solution, as well. What are my options to replace missing teeth?

We offer many options to restore smiles to optimal form. Depending on the location and amount of missing teeth, the dentist may recommend crown and bridgework, a partial denture, or dental implants. Our on-site periodontist places dental implants and we restore them, as well, so you can receive all phases of care in a comfortable and familiar setting. Schedule an exam to learn which option will fulfill your needs.

Does your office use lasers?

Yes. We use a soft-tissue laser for precise, predictable results. With our laser, we can effectively treat gum disease, cosmetically reshape gum tissue, perform gum grafts, make incisions, and much more. Lasers are extremely efficient and reduce the amount of trauma the patient experiences. Lasers eliminate the need for sutures and often result in a shorter recovery time, as well.

What are crowns in an hour?

Crowns-in-an-hour are crowns that we create in our office using CEREC technology. With CEREC, we design and fabricate the crown from high-quality blocks of ceramic in a single appointment. The milling process takes about an hour, although the appointment may take longer. With CEREC crowns, you don’t have to wait for your final restoration to arrive from the dental laboratory. Instead, your treatment is completed in a single visit, and the results are long-lasting.

Do you offer sedation?

We offer sedation for our oral surgery procedures, such as dental implant placement and wisdom tooth extraction. Our board-certified oral surgeon can administer oral sedation, IV sedation, or nitrous oxide, depending on your needs. We do not offer sedation for general dentistry procedures.

Will my insurance cover that?

Dental insurance is diverse. The amount of coverage you receive depends on the premiums you or your employer pays. Typically, insurance partially covers periodic cleanings and exams, as well as some restorative procedures, such as crowns, fillings, and replacement teeth. Most cosmetic dentistry procedures are not covered. To help with the cost, we offer affordable payment plans through CareCredit. We highly recommend that patients contact their insurance representative to find out which procedures their policy will cover.
